About audra owens, lpc

You don’t have to carry this all on your own.

I’m a Chandler and Gilbert based therapist specializing in trauma and relationships. I work primarily with teenagers and adults with a focus on attachment to help clients understand the root causes of their anxiety, depression, anxious or avoidant tendencies.

Audra is formally trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, with additional education trainings in EMDR and IFS.

Life experience has taught me: even when you don’t see a way out, that doesn’t mean one doesn’t exist. Your marriage can fall apart and be rebuilt to something so much better than anything you imagined you would ever have. You can find yourself in the depths of depression with unchangeable life circumstances and find happiness again. Your nervous system can in fact be calm again. You can feel God’s love again. I have experienced dark places myself. I know the struggle. You don’t have to just survive, you can thrive!

About Me: I was born and raised in Chandler, AZ. I am a mother to five incredible children. I married my childhood sweetheart in 2000. Together we have grown and survived the difficulty of marrying young and raising a big family. We fell apart so many times, we almost called it quits just as many times, yet we now find ourselves stronger and closer and more intimately connected than ever. Through our journey we have become acquainted with grief, trauma, addiction, the 12 steps, and connecting with God and each other to heal. Our faith in Jesus Christ is central to our lives.

When I’m not “therapizing” I enjoy playing tennis, pickleball, water sports, camping in the forest or on the beach in Mexico, scuba diving, and spending time with my family and friends.

Therapist in Chandler Gilbert
"Life has taught me to courageously face fear and overcome challenges. As a child, I struggled with social and school-related anxiety—my 3rd-grade teacher put a comment on my report card that "Audra needs to make more of an EFFORT SOCIALLY." Even in high school, as an athlete, my nerves often affected my performance on the field. Rather than avoiding anxiety, I chose to confront it head-on—fighting it instead of feeding it. I didn't stay home from scary social situations; I completed public speaking and performing opportunities in the midst of panic attacks. I can promise you I am acquainted with anxiety. Accelerated Resolution Therapy has profoundly transformed my view of self and, unexpectedly, also my adult athletic performance. I often wish I had access to this powerful tool when I was younger. My goal now is to support student athletes and adults in succeeding more easily and confidently." - Audra

About Jennifer King, LAC, CRC

Is fear sucking the fulfillment from your life? Maybe you’re missing out on things you wish you could do. Do you often feel revved up? Or maybe you feel you relate to Bob from “What About Bob?” a little too closely – cold sweats, hot sweats…blurred vision, involuntary trembling, dead hands, numb lips. We laugh, but the reality is, it’s not fun. Eventually some may crash. You’re tired. It’s exhausting to maintain this state. After prolonged periods, some may slip into a low. Things don’t seem as colorful as they used to. Everything seems a little dull. Literally and figuratively. In either case, you want to feel better.

The number 1 indicator of whether therapy will help you feel better is your relationship with your counselor. A critical component of that positive relationship is that the counselor is empathetic. From childhood trauma to my own battles with mental illness, to raising special needs children; my life experiences have led to a deep development of empathy.

Our struggles need not be the same. I am confident that you will find my empathetic, non-judging nature provides a comfortable scene to develop that critical relationship between you and I that leads to your greatest counseling success no matter your circumstances.
